Karate competition in Baku 2015 European Games will start in two months (13-14 June).
The 1st European Games will be held in Baku (Azerbaijan) and will be the inaugural edition of the European Games, an international multi-sport event for athletes representing the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of Europe. It will feature over 6,000 athletes from 50 NOCs competing in 20 sports. Karate events will consist of 10 ind. kumite events and 2 ind. kata events. Europe’s best performing athletes – 48 men and 48 women – will showcase their talents on the strikingly beautiful tatami of Crystal Hall in Baku.
Men’s categories: Kumite -60kg, -67kg, -75kg, -84kg, +84kg and kata
Women’s categories: Kumite -50kg, -55kg, -61kg, -68kg, +68kg and kata
Qualification places was determined based on rankings during the 50th European Championships (Istanbul, Turkey). Each category will have a total of 8 athletes. Six of them qualified among the first 6 places were awarded to the first six of the ranking of European championships (first seven, in case an athlete from Azerbaijan was among the first six). One place is then allocated to Azerbaijan as the host country and the 8th place is allocated to universality. Please find below the list of competitors that qualified in the EKF Senior Championships in Istanbul. Very soon the allocation of universality places will be decided as well.
