EL PRESIDENTE DE LA WKF VISITA AL COMITÉ PARALÍMPICO INTERNACIONAL

El presidente de la WKF, Antonio Espinós, visitó el jueves la sede del Comité Paralímpico Internacional para discutir maneras innovadoras de llevar el Para-Karate a nuevos niveles y aprovechar las fuertes relaciones del cuerpo directivo internacional del Karate con el IPC.

La delegación de la WKF que visitó la sede de IPC en Bonn (Alemania) fue formada por el Sr. Espinós y el Comisionado de WKF para Asuntos Olímpicos y Paralímpicos, Wolfgang Wegiert. Las reuniones estuvieron encabezadas por Xavier González, presidente ejecutivo de IPC, y contó con la participación de Jürgen Padberg, Gerente Senior de Deportes y Relaciones con el IFC, Alexis Schäfer, Director de Comercial y Marketing de IPC, y Craig Spence, Director de Comunicación y Medios de IPC.

El Sr. Espinós presentó el notable progreso de Pará-Karate en los últimos años y declaró que el trabajo duro de la WKF, el diálogo abierto y la unidad en la intención de la organización para seguir desarrollando la modalidad. Al presentar el objetivo de la WKF de Para-Karate de ser incluido en el programa deportivo de los Juegos Paralímpicos de 2024, el jefe de la Federación Mundial de Karate subrayó la creciente importancia de la disciplina. Además, el Sr. Espinós compartió con los representantes de la IPC el éxito de las dos últimas ediciones del Campeonato Mundial de Para-Karate.

En la edición de 2016 del Campeonato Mundial de Para-Karate que se celebró en Linz (Austria) en octubre, más de 70 atletas de Pará-Karate de casi 30 países participaron en el evento, con 12 naciones de cinco continentes llevándose medallas. Las finales de Para-Karate en los Campeonatos Mundiales se transmitieron a una audiencia mundial y se transmitieron en vivo en las redes de televisión de todo el mundo.

WKF PRESIDENT VISITS INTERNATIONAL PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE

WKF President Antonio Espinós visited the International Paralympic Committee headquarters on Thursday to discuss innovative ways to take Para-Karate to new levels and to build on the strong relationships of Karate’s international governing body with the IPC.

The WKF delegation visiting the IPC headquarters in Bonn (Germany) was formed by Mr. Espinós and WKF Commissioner for Olympic and Paralympic Affairs Wolfgang Wegiert. The meetings were headed by IPC Chief Executive Officer Xavier González and were attended by Paralympic Games Sport and IF Relations Senior Manager Jürgen Padberg, IPC Commercial & Marketing Director Alexis Schäfer, and IPC Media & Communications Director Craig Spence.

Mr. Espinós presented Para-Karate’s remarkable progress over the last years and stated WKF’s hard work, open dialogue and unity in the intention of the organisation to further develop the modality. While presenting WKFs objective of Para-Karate to be included in the sports programme of the Paralympic Games 2024, the head of the World Karate Federation underlined the growing importance of the discipline. Furthermore, Mr. Espinós shared with the IPC representatives the success of the last two editions of the World Para-Karate Championships.

In the 2016 edition of the World Para-Karate Championships which were held in Linz (Austria) in October, over 70 Para-Karate athletes from nearly 30 countries participated at the event, with 12 nations from five continents taking home medals. The Para-Karate finals at the World Championships were streamed to a worldwide viewing audience and were broadcast live in TV networks around the world.
