English version of the interview
This year was very successful for you. You won 3rd place in kumite at the Pan American in Toronto and then took 3rd place at Karate1 in Brazil. How difficult was for you the final kumite match in Toronto?
My last fight in Toronto was very complex, because of an injury to my knee in the match against Dubo. My injured knee hampered my normal performance much and was very limited. I like the Venezuelan athlete`s forms, it is a great fighter and normally would have been too complex.
What is your biggest impression from Toronto?
The Toronto experience was great, because it was one of the best events, in which I had to compete, because it was a great tournament for Argentina.
Which opponent was the hardest for you at Karate1 Premier League in Brazil?
At The Premier League in Brazil I came across a Colombian competitor, whom I did not know and I think he underestimated the situation and got the win. It was a tournament, in which Argentina was still not fully fit, because our target was the Pan American Games.
Throughout your career you have been struggling in the same weightcategory (-75 kg). Do you have to control your weight? Do you have a special diet?
Honestly I can easily reach 75kg. Luckily it’s my natural weight. I follow a nutritional plan, provided by the Olympic Committee.
Have you ever competed in kata? Which kata do you like?
In kids category I competed a lot in kata and my favourite Kata is sochin and empi.
Can you remember your first match in kumite? Did you win?
I remember my first fight at the age of 12 at an Argentine Championship. It went well, I won by difference and with all kicking techniques. My opponent had a tremendous fear.
How much time per week do you dedicate the gym?
Daily 2 hours.
In which club did you start practising karate and who is your first coach?
I started at age of 6 in a dojo near my house, called Meikyo and my Sensei is Marcelo Campanella.
In which club do you practise karate currently, and who is your coach?
Currently I only train with the team in the national high performance center and according to the coach selection my Sensei is Marcelo Campanella.
What is your job?
I am Physical Trainer of Rugby team, called Club Ciudad de Buenos Aires.
Have you ever had a serious injury from the competition?
I had injuries from the head to the toe. There are situations that we have to learn to live together. I had nose surgery, hernia, fractures, concussions, etc … .
And what about your family, did they encourage your interest in karate? Which sport does do your daughter?
Without the support of my family I could not have access to both. And as for my daughter, yet she does no sport because she has only two years. I approached the gym or dance .. .
Do you have a favorite place in Argentina?
My city Buenos Aires and I really like Patagonia.
How did you spend this Christmas?
I spent Christmas with my family in Buenos Aires and New Year in Patagonia (Viedma) with my wife’s family.
